likes her RMS position best By Anne Deal
QA Team
My name is Anne Deal and I joined the QA team at RMS December 1, 2008. I’m very happy to be part of this growing organization.
I am one of the few who was actually raised in Raleigh. I was born in a
little town just outside of Cleveland, Ohio but moved down here when I
was a year old. So as far as I’m concerned I am truly a native of
Raleigh. I graduated from high school here ( I won’t say what year!)
then attended Peace College and North Carolina State University.
Several years and two children later, I realized how much I enjoyed
working with computers. I took the fast track for my MCSE (Microsoft
Certified System Engineer) at Productivity Point International. I
obtained my MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) in 1999. I didn’t
realize I’ve been at this for so long.
Anyway, I started my career off working at a call center for EDS
(Electronic Data Systems). I moved my way thru the ranks from Tier 1 to
Tier 2. I left for a brief stint at IBM but soon returned to EDS as a
System Administrator. Eventually I was laid off after a year because of
downsizing.
Ten months later I was asked to return as a Tier 1 analyst. Because of
the job market, I accepted. Guess what, a year later the call center
closed and everyone was laid off.
My career was on hold at that point. I got married and acquired two
step children and one grandson. I took a few years sabbatical to take
care of elderly parents.
Finally, after 3 years I’m back working with computers. I am extremely happy and excited with the new opportunity.
When I’m not working, I am going to school, taking online classes for
web technologies. I am also very involved in my community. I am
president of the Chamber of Commerce for Franklinton. (a small town 28
miles north of Raleigh), president of the American Legion Post 52
Women’s Auxiliary, serve on the Uptown Revitalization Committee, and
most importantly serve as a Board Member for Rolling Thunder NC 7.
Rolling Thunder is a non-profit organization that raises money for
Veteran’s rights and issues and POW/MIA awareness. Being that my
husband is a retired Vietnam Veteran from the Air Force, this cause is
very meaningful for me.
Also during my spare time, what little there is, I really enjoy riding
my motorcycle (Tweeytbird), hence the title Lady Rider. It’s an '82
Harley Davidson Shovelhead. I got my motorcycle endorsement about six
months ago and ride every chance I get.
That’s pretty much everything about me. Like I said, I am very happy
and excited about working for RMS and being part of a great team.
