Greg Perkins
Software Developer
Hey everyone, my name is Greg (now there are two of us, how confusing!!! :-). I joined the RMS team at the beginning of February and am very excited to be a part of this wonderful team, great group of people and terrific company!!!
I was born in San Antonio, Texas and have lived in several (ten, I think???) different states. I moved to Salisbury, NC when I was in high school and although I have been away for short periods of time and am not a native, I claim North Carolina as home. After high school, I had high hopes and like many others went off to college only to realize that I was not quite ready. After one semester at Campbell University, in good ‘ole Buies Creek, NC, I dropped out and joined the Army.
After several wonderful months of constantly having someone (the drill instructors) scream in my face, I had become an Airborne Infantryman and was stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. I was deployed to Panama during Operation Just Cause in December 1989, to Saudi/Iraq during Operation Desert Shield/Storm for most of 1990 and part of 1991, and even did a six month rotation in Egypt with the Multinational Force and Observers in 1993. I spent eight years and eleven months in the Army, but could not hold back my passion to be a part of the computer/technical workplace, so I left the Army in 1998.
While completing my education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, I held a wide range of technical positions. I worked as a Support Specialist (and am currently doing that while everyone else is having a blast in Vegas :-P ), a software verification engineer, a product engineer and have finally returned to my true passion by taking a Software Developer position with RMS. I am married (seven years this June) to the most wonderful woman, Joyce (a true North Carolina native and Southern Belle) and have two wonderful step-daughters (Sara, 22, and Candace, 16). I have enjoyed my time here thus far and sincerely look forward to serving RMS and its outstanding customers.
